DAY 45 - November 15, 2023

While locking a couple of days ago, one of the boats in our flotilla had a drone (you can see the drone in the top picture). Today they emailed this picture taken with their drone of our boat rafted to Surf Rider.

We had a harrowing evening last night with wind and rain while at anchor. We were alone in the Warsaw Cut anchorage. It was totally dark and we were worried about dragging our anchor. Fortunately we made it through the night and were able to rejoin the flotilla we were with yesterday. Once we were underway and it got light enough, Denise prepared sausage and scrabbled eggs for breakfast.

One of the things we saw today was White Cliffs of Epes. This is a formation that can only been seen by boat. The cliffs stand about 30 feet tall, but before the system of dams was established and water raised, the cliffs stood 80 feet.

We stopped for the night at Kingfisher Bay Marina in Demopolis, Alabama. I got out my bicycle and rode into town. One of the stores I stopped at was this grocery store chain.

I also saw a couple of people putting up Christmas Decorations.

We're staying at the marina for a couple of days, then we need to anchor out for the following three nights. Our travels over the next four days will be will be in pretty remote areas. So if you don't see blog updates over the next few days, just keep checking back. We'll eventually get back in an area with a cell signal and will post an update then.
